The Project

Kaos Ederra is a project born from Senef’s mind, in an attempt to give some meaning to a series of recurring dreams over several years, mixing some symbolism with ideas of helping the world and a society that has increasingly normalized the ever-growing cases of depression and anxiety, sadly and worryingly especially among younglings.

That way the creative process began, Senef wrote most of the lyrics, with a couple of collaborations from Luna Alva and David Magaña while working at the same time on all the music alongside Marco Madrigal.

Yet one last thing was missing, a single theme or idea able to unify all those independent concepts, and it came in the form of a sad memory, Mexico City earthquake on september 19 2017, a couple of years before.

That event led to Senef and Marco meeting each other, brought a lot of ideas of helping each other to Senef’s mind, and suddenly, seamed the perfect excuse after that last dream.

The Dream

That night, Senef dreamed that he was walking across a vehicular bridge while admiring a huge building being built on one side, suddenly the earth began to shake, the building began to collapse and Senef ran to escape the rubble, when the movement had stopped, everything was silent and there was nothing but a dense cloud of dust in all directions, Senef stopped moving when he heard a voice that seemed to come from all sides: “the road back is silent, the road back is dark, the road back is sad, the road back is lonely…” and so the voice continued with an endless list of ominous adjectives. Then he began to walk back, inside the dense cloud of dust, and began to see an infinite number of shadows approaching him. As they drew closer, he realized they were battered bodies, some mutilated, but none of them made a moan, nor did they notice his presence as he walked against the tide of people. It was at that moment that he realized they were the souls of all those who had died, and that “The Road Back” was none other than the passage to the afterlife.

When he woke up in the morning, he immediately knew this was the thread he’d been searching for. Now the album’s entire theme was clear: “There is so much misfortune and suffering in the world, that we cannot allow ourselves to be defeated by our daily problems. We must fight together to move forward, even in the worst of circumstances.”

El Camino de Regreso

And that’s how El Camino de Regreso was created, a concept album that in each track contains a different aspect of what overwhelms a young woman’s psyche, to the point of driving her to the brink of suicide.

Aspects such as anxiety and depression, the social and media noise constantly telling her how things should be, like fashion and beauty, misinforming and misleading everyone, or the helplessness of seeing the rich and powerful willing to do anything, at any cost, solely for their own benefit.

However, when she is about to take that final and fatal step, the earth begins to shake, interrupting her, followed by hours and days of despair, and subsequently, months of collaborative reconstruction work, opening her eyes to the reality that her problems are not everything; there may be many more, worse and irreparable, and yet, together as a species we can move forward.

This strong revelation makes her give up, and she decides to take life from a different perspective from now on.

Finally the last two crew members were brought on board: Samantha Yazareth and Lobo Elías.

And it al began.

The Future

What’s next for Kaos Ederra? Well, from the beginning of the idea for this project to the release of this first album, several years have passed, but we haven’t stopped working on other ideas, other albums, all with the same purpose: to deliver a positive message of respect, equality, freedom, encouragement, overcoming challenges, among many others.

So there’s at least one more album in production and one more being composed, and so, from now on, you can expect much, much more music from me and my dear collaborators, with the main objective of delivering positive messages of love and hope to try to improve, as much as possible, this complicated reality in which we live.

With love: Senef.
